6 Website Designing Tips for Beginners

Sharing is caring!

As beginner web designers, you might have some ideas that you have in mind and you want to implement them on your next project. However, there are some things that you need to be aware of first so that you do not commit the same beginner mistakes as other newbie designers have. Be sure to read through the rest of the article to gain some tips.

Start Simple

Newbie designers often find themselves implementing a lot of graphical elements on their homepage. However, the problem with that is it might not be the best way to attract an audience.

Website design experts believe that the best thing that you can do as a beginner is to start simple. Only implement so many graphical elements on your site to make it easier for the people to navigate.

Create Relevant Content

Content is King, according to Bill Gates, and that still holds true to this day. Creating relevant content is good not only for SEO but also for the people who are going to your site.

When beautifying your blog platform, make sure that the font used in the texts are easy to read. If you want to have an idea of what font to use, you can start looking at the Sans Serif typefaces.

Also, make sure to put some images in your articles so that it will not be a boring read and so that you keep your audiences engaged.

Be Mindful of the Spacing

This applies to your content and your overall website design. Make use of negative space (the space between your content and other elements of your site) as it has been shown that this blank area is actually pleasing to the eyes. It also helps with navigation as well.

For your content, be mindful of how long your paragraphs are. The usual length of a paragraph should only be 3-5 sentences long, so make sure to discuss your point in fewer than 5 sentences.

Don’t Forget the Logo

The logo is part of your brand, so it is only fitting that you also include one on your website. You can design a logo from scratch and it has to be something that is memorable. One tip would be to use only a few colors so that it will be easy to remember. Furthermore, put a link of your homepage directly inside your logo so that people can just go to the said page in just one click (and also place it at the top-left corner of the page as well).

Use Punchy and Noticeable Colors on Your CTA buttons

Call-to-action buttons are usually just links that tell people to do something, like purchasing a product or reading an article, perhaps. Buttons such as “Click Here” or “Buy Now” are just some examples.

To make it more prominent, use a different color than the ones you’ve already put on your website. So, if your website uses a predominantly blue color scheme, paint your button, say, orange to make it stand out.

You Can Be Unique, But Exercise Restraint

There are always some things that a designer has up their sleeves that is unique in each individual. And, you might want to implement them on your website.

But, exercise caution because sometimes, beginners often go way overboard, convoluting their websites in the process.

Remember to keep it simple and if you want to add unique elements, it should be only for the purpose of simplifying the lives of your audience.
